A Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be published in the Federal Register for the School Trust Land Exchange within the Superior National Forest. The US Forest Service received over 1,600 comment letters and hosted five open houses February–May 2015 during the scoping period for the School Trust Land Exchange. This project would exchange federal Superior National Forest lands located outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) for State of Minnesota land located inside the BWCAW. An EIS will be published in the Federal Register on August 28, 2015.

Next Steps
The scoping comments received during the February–May 2015 scoping period are being considered as part of the project record and provide standing to object per requirements in the Forest Service objection regulations at 36 CFR 218. The Notice of Intent provides information on how to submit scoping comments.
