Governor Mark Dayton convened Minnesota’s first-ever Governor’s Water Summit this past Saturday to focus public attention on the challenges facing Minnesota’s water supplies and to encourage conversation about solutions to those problems.
Key issues that were a focus of discussion at the summit are listed at http://watersummit.ideascale.com/a/pages/topics and include among 8 others:
Ensure Minnesota is Resilient to Extreme Weather
Heavy rainfall and floods are increasing in Minnesota as our climate changes, threatening our water quality, health, infrastructure, agriculture and transportation. Our water and landscape must be able to withstand these mounting pressures.
For those who would still like to join in the dialogue on this and other topics (whether you attended the Summit or not), for the rest of this week there is a continuing online public forum at http://watersummit.ideascale.com/ that will allow you to submit ideas to help Governor Dayton’s administration and elected officials prioritize water quality challenges and solutions for our state.
See http://watersummit.ideascale.com/ for more details and to suggest an idea(s), “like” an idea that someone else has posted, and/or to comment on an idea.
There’s also an opportunity to respond to the Governor’s Water Survey on a variety of water-related topics at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1pGJN1ECjBRbrFek2hjYVafrIYe4UfpqV6Tv7Ehl7k1c/viewform (though I’m not sure how long this survey will be live.)
