Happy March! Maple tapping at Fort Snelling State Park. These are Silver Maple trees. It takes about 50 to 60 gallons of sap to get 1 gallon of syrup. The ratio is 40:1 for sugar maples. The syrup created from these trees here have won awards at the Minnesota State Fair, so don't rule out the mighty Silver Maple!
