Maple Syrup Tap-and-Make Events: Celebrate spring in a State Park sugar bush! Learn the history of maple syrup and sugar making, as well as the equipment and procedures used. Participants will tap trees, gather and boil sap and best of all taste pure maple syrup!

The Women In the Parks series offers women an opportunity to learn new skills and explore nature in state parks. Bluebird Workshop 10 am–11:30 This will be an opportunity to meet the other volunteer trail checkers (both new and seasoned), verify the houses you check, get new forms, learn about the birds that use nesting boxes, what to do when you check the houses, how often to check, etc.

Snowshoe (or Hike)
1 pm Join the Naturalist on an epic trip to the peak. We will be snowshoeing our way along this journey. If there is no snow, don’t worry, we will still hike to the peak and enjoy the view. Grab a friend, dress for the weather, and come out to the park for a winter adventure! You may bring your own pair of snowshoes if you have them, but we will provide snowshoes for those who need them.

1–3:30 pm Beginners will get a nice introduction to this low-impact winter sport. The Park Naturalist will lead you on a gentle stroll up the river valley, giving snowshoeing tips and interpreting the winter scene that we encounter along the way. If you need to borrow a pair of snowshoes, please contact the naturalist at 218 353-8809 to reserve them. Tettegouche State Park
Candlelight Ski/Snowshoe/Hike
6:30 pm–9 pm Tour the park trails by the warm glow of candlelight. Up to 0.7 miles of easy groomed ski trails will be lit for this magical night of skiing, snowshoeing or hiking. Warm up by the fire, have a hot cider and roast marshmallows at North Picnic Shelter. A limited number of snowshoes available to rent. Participants over the age of 16 who will be on skis will need a Minnesota Ski Pass. You can purchase a day ski pass at the office for $6 or an annual ski pass for $20. Hikers and snowshoers do not need a ski pass. Check current trail conditions at www.mndnr.gov

Consider bringing a picnic lunch and enjoying your noon meal around the fireplace in the visitor center lobby after the program.
